I've always found Hugh's to be very welcoming! There's definitely lots of queer people at Hugh's, and I'd like to think we run good social events as the Reps.
@sthughs.lgbtq InstagramOxford has a ton of amazing resources and spaces for the LGBTQ+ community! You can check out events going on around Oxford through societies such as the OULGBTQ+ Soc and their infamous Tuesgays; we also run joint socials with other colleges to meet new people. Plush is known as the gay club in Oxford City Centre, but there are other spaces such as Glam in Cowley (although a bit far...) which run nightlife events.
If you want to stay up-to-date with all the events week by week, the best way is to sign up to the OULGBTQ+ Soc mailing list:
Mailing list signupGender Expression Fund (GEF)
The JCR has a GEF that you can apply to. Full details can be found in the Governing Document, but the key points are:
- Get reimbursed for any gender affirming purchases.
- Contact the Reps during term to apply, including receipts.
- Some criteria for applying; but not designed to be a barrier.
- Limit of £50/50% of GEF per student per term.
