Biochemistry

About the Course:

"It is interesting but lectures can be overwhelming as you get bombarded with so much information in a short space of time. This initially makes it hard to find it interesting but taking the time to go over it yourself is more enjoyable. The workload is high as you get work set from the department including practical work and problem sheets and then lots of tutorial work, but it is managle once you learn how to juggle you time. I've enjoyed the DNA/RNA and genetic parts like genetic disease probably the most." - 2nd Year

Application Process:

"I was very nervous. I prepared by doing two practice interviews at school where my teacher mimicked an Oxford interview by making me work through a scientific problem/principle that I would have never heard of before. This was helpful to get thinking in a way that you are required to do in Oxford interviews - outside your intellectual comfort zone. I also read a few articles on biochemistry things I found interesting and read a book which I could talk about. I did a MOOC on CRISPR which they asked and discussed with me about in the interview so this was useful. " - 2023
