The College Cats!

The college cats, Admiral Biscuit and Captain Flapjack, are perhaps the foremost highlight of St Hugh's life. We lay claim to being the most-followed Oxford pet account on instagram (@hughsiecats) and upload pictures as often as we get them - so do get submitting!

The cats are very outgoing and independent; you'll see them everywhere in college. Please make sure to take care of them well by not littering around College and ensuring they're not stuck inside buildings. It is okay for the cats to visit your rooms, kitchens, and hallways, but please make sure to let them out and that they leave the building completely, rather than leaving them in hallways, even if the windows are open. The cats could get hurt if they are stuck inside the building or trying to let themselves out! And of course, especially in kitchens, please ensure they aren't near any sharp objects.

The cats need to go back to their flat to be fed and receive their regular medications every day. You are more than welcome to give them occasional treats when you see them, but please don’t give them meals or milk, as they are more than well fed (and milk isn’t very good for cats)! Ultimately, we want to ensure their health and wellbeing, as we do everyone in College. They are also very good hunters and sometimes you might see them chasing around the occasional squirrel.
